This is sort of out of context, but here goes.... I've spoken with a range of people in the podcast biz over the last couple of months. I've met some seriously interesting people, some not so, some polite people, some not so, some bafflingly coarse...mostly all good people though, sincere too. But perhaps the kindest soul I've encountered belongs to Kevin at Schwagcast. We'll be appearing on the next Schwagcast, #25, but that's not why I'm writing this. I'm writing it because sometimes I feel like calling out the good guys. People don't do that enough.

Podcast: Bandweblogs
Jenny and Dave at BandwebLogs were gracious enough to include Supraluxe on the latest installment of the Bandweblogs podcast. I found Bandweblogs by chance one day while seeking out podcasts that play interesting pop. (To my ear, "interesting" could mean lots of things) These guys are sincere music junkies; it shows, and it warms my heart to hear people like these two champion the cause, especially the cause of the little guy, which we, collectively, are. Bandweblogs is produced in England, Oxford I believe. A gentlemanly shout out to Jenny and Dave, big thanks.

Note to Jenny: Yes, we did record it all in a home studio, Bob's basement. At least as comfortable as Electric Ladyland, and cheaper to boot.

Podcast: Clever Little Pod
Jason (ed: pronounced GARY) breaks the podcast "Boyfriend" silence and plays it on the latest Clever Little Pod. Honestly, I'd have thought the pods would be all over this song, but CLP's the first.
Stream it HERE.
Edit: There's a lot of pod chaff (podchaff?) out there, but Clever Little Pod is so well scripted and FUNNY, you really need to check it out. Five out of Five stars. Click on the link. Really. Just do it.
Podcast: Razing Giants
Russell Turley broadcasts from Long Beach CA, a far cry from our frozen abode. Tokyo appears in the latest Razing Giants podcast, #20.
Podcast: Today Betacast
Finally broke into the Australian market. 8^) A fellow name Per Erikkson (good sturdy Scandinavian, judging from the name) has a podcast called Today Betacast. It's a production of Raines & Horne, a real estate enterprise in Gladstone Autralia, located on the Northeast coast. They maintain a weblog/podcast where they talk about a mix of things, including the weather. They're apparently as obsessed with it as we are in MN - MN weather segments in newscasts drone on for 10 minutes.
Here's a direct link to the podcast we appear in.

The geeks who made all this possible
This is most fascinating. A film from 1972 in which the Supraluxe fore-fathers discuss the future possibilities that connecting computers together will enable. They stop just short of predicting blogging.
Watch. Learn.
UPDATE: Google has apparently pulled this video, probably due to its popularity. On behalf of Supraluxe, sorry - it was a very cool short movie. To Google: bite me.

Podcast: Razing Giants
Russell Turley was kind enough to include Run Rabbit Run on the latest Razing Giants podcast, #19. We're sandwiched between some very melodic tunes by Julie Gribble, Matthew Ebel, and more. There's a song called Skullcrusher Mountain by Jonathon Coulton that grows on you, but you wonder where he's going with it early on, the lyrics read like a script from a B movie.

Podcast: Insomnia Radio
The latest episode of Insomnia Radio, #71, features no advertising. Jason is going part-time with the ads - I hope that doesn't mean he's going part-time with the income. Maybe he's going part-time with food. I don't know, maybe he's on a diet and he's trying to incentify his stomach. Although he doesn't sound like an overweight man. He sounds, like a, uh, just a guy. With brown hair? Just a guess. And good taste in music, which crosses all hair color boundaries.
ANYWAYYYYZZZZZZZZ.......Episode #71 features, in the words of Jason: "Andy J, the composer, guitarist, synth master, bass player, and percussion section of The Holden Caulfield Experience. Every instrument he plays has been broken." And if that isn't enticement enough for you to check it out, let me add that Andy plays the trumpet too. Now how much would you pay?
Oh, and Jason plays Sugar Chalet on #71. Forgot to mention my own band. Sheesh.
In case you missed it, you can also catch Insomnia Radio Show #65, where we make another similarly exciting appearance.

Podcast: Podgy's Tokyo Talk
The Podgy's Tokyo Talk podcast featuring Supraluxe is up. Podgy sounds like an expat from the UK, or at least the accent would seem to imply that. But what do I know. Anyway, he spins two songs, Flower and Chemical Fun, alongside some experimental ambient tunes, some bluesy stuff and more. I'm going to quote Podgy's description of the show:
"MOUSHIWAKEGOZAIMASEEEEEEN!
No its not Horiemon here, just Podgy
after a three week absence with a new mac
and episode 28 full of good merodeezu!
Shaggy goes telephone shopping, E-sin with "Disrecall",
Featured band Supraluxe sing "Flower" and "Chemical Fun".
Brain Buckit with "Rocket Science" and Sharif with "Simple Ways""

Podcast: Tower of Song
Tim Harlow at Tower of Song features us in another episode, #51. Like I mentioned before, Tim plays some seriously cool stuff, and by that I don't mean he plays us (or just us) but there's great music in every episode. There's a song by a French band called Lo that's particularly cool.
Tim hails from Dallas Texas, where it's nice and toasty warm, which Minnesota is NOT right now. We just got dumped on with about 9 inches of snow, and there's more coming tonight. Guess we'll have to stay inside and write songs. Bummer. But I digress.
